Recipe variations:

There are a lot of different options with these caramel apple jello shots, I used the easiest ingredients to procure but you can also try the following:

Use Apple Schnapps instead of vodka for a stronger flavor.
Try salted caramel vodka or plain vodka instead of the vodka version.

If you live in the USA, you can buy Jolly Rancher sour apple jello which will make these shots a breeze.

I could not find it in stores so went with the drink mix and plain gelatin.

Frequently asked questions

Does the alcohol burn off when making gelatin?

Not with this recipe. That is why it is a good idea to use cold alcohol.

But with our recipe, you are not cooking the gelatin on the stove, you are dissolving the powder in boiling water and then adding the liquor.

If you are worried that the boiling water may dull your alcohol content, just wait until the jello mixture has cooled a little before adding the liquor.

Can I use other liquors besides vodka?

Absolutely. Some of the other ideas that are popular choices include apple schnapps, rum, and flavored vodkas such as salted caramel.

You do not have to stick with strong liquors.

You could even try apple flavored wine coolers or mixed drinks.

You have to make some jello shots without booze for the designated drivers as well as those who just do not drink alcohol.

You can easily omit the flavored vodka or liquor in this recipe.

How to store leftovers:

You can keep these tasty cups of tart booze in the fridge for up to five days.
