Mardi Gras Jello Shots Ingredients

Mardi Gras Jello Shots

I am a huge fan of layered shots in general and these layered jello shots are so fun!

I’ve done layering before with my Candy Corn Jello Shots for Halloween so I thought why not do a version for the best carnival out there?

Although the full recipe only fills about 7 jello shot cups, you can make a big batch by multiplying the recipe.

How To Make Mardi Gras Jello Shots

As these jello shots are layered, you need to take the process in stages and wait for each layer to set before moving onto the next step.

Luckily actual hands on time for these shots is not too long.

Step 1: The Yellow Layer

Boil one cup water with two tablespoons sweetened condensed milk. Mix in pineapple gelatin mix into the boiling water. Whisk well. Add 1/2 cup cold water and 1/2 cup vodka.  Whisk well.

Pour the yellow layer to 1/3 of the cups. Place a lid on top of the jello shot cups and pop into the fridge for two hours or until set.

Step 2: The Green Layer

Step 4: The Garnish

When you are ready to serve the Mardi Gras jello shots,  top each one with whipped cream. Then add a sprinkle of purple, green, and gold sanding sugars to each one.

Mardi Gras Shots: FAQS

Can I use something other than vodka in my jello shots?

I normally use vodka in my Jello Shots as it takes on the flavor of the jello but you can definitely use white rum if you would like.

Can I make these without alcohol?

It is easy to make these jello shots for your non-drinking guests too! All you have to do is omit the 1/2 cup of vodka in the yellow and purple layers and substitute for more water instead.

Is is possible to make these jello shots ahead of time?

Yes! The beauty of jello shots is that you can make them 24-48 hours ahead of your party and then just get the out of the fridge when you are ready to serve.

Juts make sure to leave off the whipped cream and sprinkles until just before you serve these treats.
