What Is a Moscow Mule?

A Moscow Mule is a classic cocktail made with vodka, spicy ginger beer, and fresh lime juice. It’s traditionally served over ice in an iconic copper mug, which helps keep the drink icy cold.

Despite its name, the Moscow Mule was actually created in the United States during the 1940s as a way to popularize vodka and ginger beer.

The combination of crisp vodka, tart lime, and fizzy ginger beer creates a refreshing cocktail that’s become a favorite around the world.

These jello shots capture those same signature flavors in a fun, party-ready dessert.

Stir gently until everything is well combined.

Try not to whisk too vigorously, as the carbonation in the ginger beer can create excess foam.

Arrange your shot cups on a tray or baking sheet to make transferring them to the refrigerator easier.

Carefully pour the mixture into each cup, filling them about two-thirds to three-quarters full.
Place the lids loosely on the cups or leave them uncovered until the tops begin to firm up.

Just before serving, garnish each shot with a small sprig of fresh mint and a lime wedge if desired. Serve chilled and enjoy!

Tips for the Best Moscow Mule Jello Shots

      • Wait until just before serving to add the mint and lime garnish so everything stays fresh and vibrant.
      • Store the finished jello shots covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
      • Avoid freezing them, as freezing changes the texture of the gelatin once thawed.
      • Let your ginger beer and vodka sit at room temperature for a few minutes before mixing. If they’re extremely cold, the gelatin can begin setting before you’ve finished filling the cups.
      • Don’t worry if the tops look slightly bubbly or cloudy. The carbonation from the ginger beer naturally creates a little foam, and it’s completely normal.
      • For a stronger ginger flavor, choose a bold, spicy ginger beer rather than ginger ale. Ginger beer provides the authentic Moscow Mule taste that makes these jello shots stand out.
