Blackberry Vodka Cocktail Recipe

While you can most definitely drink this delicious black vodka cocktail at any time of year, it really lends itself to Halloween.

The black color is shocking and you almost don’t expect the sweet taste of the blackberries that give this drink its midnight black color.

Personally I call this recipe “Venom drop” because the color reminds me of Vampires or Snake blood.

You can even turn it into an easy non-alcoholic drink with a few changes (recipe below).

I used Crystal Head Vodka for this drink just because the bottle is so perfect for Halloween but you can switch out different vodka as desired.

I did not use black vodka for this as many recipes to make your own involve using food coloring and I would prefer to get the coloring from the fruit instead.

This spooky concoction is perfect for your next Halloween party or event. Read on for the recipe and all the details.

What is the Black Vodka Cocktail made of?

Black vodka cocktail recipe

You only need 3 ingredients to make this easy Halloween cocktail and it is easy to double or triple up the recipe for a crowd, making it perfect for your next Halloween gathering.

You can also make a Venom drop  cocktail that doesn’t contain any alcohol and I will post the recipe for that below.

The alcoholic version of the Blackberry Vodka contains the following:

  • 2 ounces Crystal Head Vodka (or other Vodka of your choice)
  • 4 oz blackberry juice
  • 1/2 grenadine

If you haven’t heard of Crystal Head vodka then once you see the bottle, you will understand why I chose it for this Venom Drop cocktail.

The bottle is a skull head which makes it absolutely perfect for Halloween as it doubles as a cool decoration for your bar or table.

About Crystal Head Vodka

Crystal Head is also one of the best vodkas out there and is a premium vodka brand.

It is made in Newfoundland, Canada and is filtered seven times, of which three passes are through semi-precious crystals known as Herkimer diamonds, making it extra special.

How Do You Make This Cocktail So Black?

The blackberry juice is what makes this black cocktail such a dark color and the drop of red at the bottom is the grenadine that you add in at the end.

What Can I Use Instead Of Blackberry Juice?

You can substitute the blackberry juice for any dark or red juice (mixed fruit punch or even orange juice) and then add in some crushed blackberries to achieve the black taste.

What tools do I need to make the Venom Drop Cocktail?

You really don’t need much in order to make this cocktail which makes it perfect for any party or large gathering when you want to whip them up in minutes.

The only tool you’ll need to make this cocktail:

Don’t have the tools you need?

If you don’t have a cocktail shaker, a large mason jar works just as well in a pinch.

Use the mason jar lid or a plate to strain the drink if you don’t own a strainer.

I also used these really cute Octopus martini glasses that you can get from Amazon. I just feel they make the cocktail look even spookier, don’t you agree?

How To Make The Crystal Skull Vodka Cocktail

Step 1:Combine all the ingredients

Place all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake for 15 seconds.

Step 2: Strain

Strain the drink into a martini glass

Step 3: Add The Grenadine

Pour the grenadine into the glass to create the red drop of “blood” at the bottom.

Step 4: Garnish and Serve

You can use fancy Halloween Picks like these stainless steel skull ones to garnish your drink with a black olive or a blackberry.
