As I already mentioned, the green tea shot has no green tea in it.
It is made with Irish whiskey, Peach schnapps and sweet and sour mix topped with a lemon/lime soda or lemonade.
The resulting green tea shot is really light and easy to drink and tastes very peachy.
You don’t need anything other than a Boston cocktail shaker and a cocktail strainer to make the shot.
Here are the ingredients you need:
- Jameson Irish Whiskey
- Peach Schnapps
- Sweet & Sour Mix
- Lemon Lime Soda (optional)
- Lime Wedges (optional garnish)
Tips About Green Tea Shot Alcohol Options
Lots of recipes call for this green tea shot to made with Jameson whisky but I have found it to be just as tasty with Jack Daniels or a good Scotch.
If you want to make the green tea shot without peach schnapps, you have a couple of options; you can either use the same flavored peach extract. (alcoholic or non-alcoholic).
The other option is to use peach juice although it will change the look of the shot.
Can You Make A Green Tea Shot Without Sour Mix?
If you don’t have any sour mix, don’t fear, you can still make a green tea shot with sour mix from the store.
First of all, let’s talk about what sour mix (sometimes called sweet and sour mix) is.
You can buy bottles of sour mix at the store but if you want to make this shot and don’t have any on hand, you have a few options.
First of all, sour mix is simply margarita mix so if you can find some of that, it is an easy fix.
Second, you could make your own sour mix by boiling sugar and water and mixing it with lemon and lime juice.

All you need to do is to use crushed ice instead of ice cubes and and use more lemon/lime soda.
There is no need to add more alcohol unless you really want to.
Tips For A Great Green Tea Shot
- These are best when served immediately upon mixing.
- Per professional bartenders, the lemon lime soda is only added by request. So, if you prefer it, add it in there, if you don’t care, go ahead and skip it. Totally up to you.
- If you want an ice cold shot, throw a couple pieces of ice in the shaker before mixing.
