Peppermint Mimosa {Peppermint Bark Cocktail)

If you love winter cocktails, then you have to try this peppermint Mimosa recipe!

You might have caught the TikTok videos that are raving about delicious Peppermint Bark Mimosas.

As someone who loves both Champagne and Peppermint bark, well, I just had to try them for myself.

I’ll be honest, originally I didn’t think that sparkling wine and peppermint was the best combination.

Mimosas are typically fruity with either classic orange juice or in the case of the Poinsettia Cocktail, cranberry juice.

I wasn’t really sure how well peppermint would work, let alone chocolate but I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised.

Give these fantastic Christmas cocktails with champagne a try and see what you think!

I bet you they are a new addition on your holiday drinks menu!

You’ll love this bubbly combination of holiday flavors that make it perfect for any celebration.

Sparkling wine with a splash of Peppermint Vodka and white Crème de cacao make this the ultimate Christmas cocktail.

This holiday drink is:

  • Perfect for Christmas
  • Easy to make for a crowd
  • Festive and celebratory
  • Mint and sweet
  • Impressive

Mimosas are, of course, the most classic Christmas brunch cocktail.

Perfect for any occasion, they get really popular around the holidays when we are all out celebrating with friends and family.

Given that candy canes are the signature candy of Christmas, it only makes sense to marry the two in the ultimate holiday beverage.

Peppermint Mimosa – Ingredients

You don’t need anything too complicated to make a peppermint bark mimosa cocktail.

Of course, a champagne flute is a must but other than that, you don’t need any special equipment like cocktail shakers.

As far as ingredients go, you will need the following:

Prosecco or similar sparkling Wine

Of course, you can use Champagne if the budget allows but any sparkling wine of your choice is perfect for these holiday mimosas.

I used Prosecco in my mimosas partly because I was drawn to the gold bottle when I was shopping for sparkling wine!

Prosecco does tend to be a bit sweeter than Champagne but I still chose a dry wine as the peppermint vodka and creme de cacao are plenty sweet enough for me.

Peppermint Vodka

You can use a pre-made peppermint vodka like the one by Smirnoff in my pictures.

It is called Peppermint Twist and comes out every holiday season.

Another option is to whip up a batch of Homemade Peppermint Vodka using my instructions.

If you have plain vodka and candy canes on hand, its so easy to make your own candy cane infused vodka.

Creme de Cacao

This will give you the chocolate taste in your peppermint bark mimosa.

There are two kinds of Creme de Cacao available – a brown chocolate colored version and a clear version.

Make sure to use the clear or white version for this drink otherwise your mimosa will look a bit murky and not very festive.

Candy Canes

Of course, there is no way you can make a Christmas peppermint cocktail without candy canes!

You can use whichever type you want for the garnish of this cocktail.

How to Make The Candy Cane Rim On The Champagne Flute

As you can see in the photos, a candy cane rim will take your mimosa to the next level and make it super impressive at a holiday party.

The good news  – it is so easy to make a festive candy cane rim.

All you need are some crushed candy canes and some simple syrup (sugar and water mixture).

You can also use melted chocolate instead of the syrup.

To crush the candy canes, you can either pop them in the blender for a minute or two or you can put them in a zipper seal bag and go over them with a rolling pin.

I’ve also found that my local bulk store sells crushed candy canes around the holidays as people like it for hot chocolate.

To make the candy cane rim:

  1. Put the crushed candy cane pieces in a shallow bowl
  2. Dip the rim of the champagne flute in simple syrup
  3. Next, gently dip the glass into the candy canes
  4. Set aside for a few minutes before pouring the drink.

Instructions

Notes

1. To make the candy cane rim:

Crush candy canes using a blender or a rolling pin (put the candy canes in a zipper seal bag first)

Dip the glass in simple syrup or melted chocolate

Quickly dip the wet rim into the crushed candy canes

Wait 5 minutes for the rim to set before pouring the drink into the glass

2. Make sure to use clear or white creme de cacao as the dark kind will make your drink look a bit ugly and brown.

3. The drink gets the pink color from the candy cane dye but you can also use pink champagne or rose sparkling wine
