As with so many cocktails, many different stories abound about how the Sex on the beach drink got its name.
Many stories say it was invented by a bartending called Ted in the 1980s as part of a peach Schnapps promotion.
As “sex” and the “beach” are the two apparent staples of spring break life, he thought the cocktail would appeal to his clientele.
Unfortunately this version of history was proven wrong by Mental Floss who found a mention of the cocktail in a 1982 book by the American Bartenders School.

- 1 1/2 ounces vodka
- 1/2 ounce peach schnapps
- 2 ounces orange juice, freshly squeezed, no pulp
- 1 1/2 ounces cranberry juice
Instructions

Notes
- Although you can use any vodka with this drink, I recommend a good quality option as the taste will definitely come through the juices if made correctly.
- You can substitute rum, Southern Comfort or Malibu Rum for the vodka.
